Mountain Cycles Grand Opening Saturday 30th May

Hello fellow MUD mountainbikers,

Bart and I are having our Grand Opening for Mountain Cycles this weekend, Sat 9 - 5.

We are putting on a free sausage sizzle for all people who stop by. Plus balloons for the kids and a cake.

I am asking for volunteers to man the BBQ throughout the day, we won't need you all day, if we get enough volunteers you may only need to be put to work for about an hour.

In exchange for your time, Mountain Cycles will be making a donation to the MUD mountain bike club.

Can you please email us at mountaincycles@bigpond.com if you are able to help out and the approx time you would be available?

I will email you back to confirm by Friday.

Either way, hope you can stop by the shop to have a look and help boost up numbers.

Thank you,

Bart and Ally

Mud Park

This will be MUD mtb’s first public trail! MUD Park is just outside Burrill Lake on some prime State Forest land. The Trail is all marked out and awaiting the Flora & Fauna study and also a soil test. (These are what SFNSW need before any trail work can start.) Although it has been a frustrating 12 month wait for the club, it has been worth it. We are very lucky to have found someone to do the study for next to nothin!

The trail has been designed with varied rider abilities in mind. It starts out with a novice short loop of around 1km, then a branch off this to a second loop for another K or so. For the keen rider, a third loop provides a technical challenge with the option for a novice to take an easier ‘B’ Line. The third loop will also have a quick flowing Down Hill mid section that rejoins the start, ready to take it on again!

So by easily linking it all together, all up 5.5km, not bad for a patch of dirt about 800m long by 200wide!

MUDs’ view is to set this first trail up to get Mountain Biking out to everyone. We also want to show the people of our area, and the decision makers, all the good bits that go with it. Then when we have earned our stripes, MUD will move into the hills and build and ride and build and ride and build..................

Dhrs take on 2009 NSW state series

Four of Ulladulla's finest downhillers have undertaken the task of competing in the nsw 2009 state series. Shane "Mago" Magnusson coming from a motocross background is enjoying the change of racing downhill mountain bikes. His skills acquired from years of motobike racing has seen him progress rapidly in the sport already with a two podiums in the series so far. Rodney "Hotrod" Day is also relatively new to the sport in his second year of racing and only 19yrs of age he is showing some talent and skill on the bike. He just needs to channel his energy into to training and not hitting the pub!lol! A second place at thredbo showcasing that this boy can defiantly ride. Will "Brooksy" Brook also in his second year of racing is also very talented on and off the bike. Having been a lumberjack/woodchopper in his younger years this 25yr old certainly shows some strength onboard his giant glory. His no fear attitude and determination to do well definatly shines through. Andrew "Sherpa" Fellows has been at the series on and off over the last 5 years. This year is already shaping up to be his finest with a top5 result at ourimbah meeting one of his goals for the season.

More too come.............
