MUD FOX SUCCESS

Sunday 9th August saw the inaugural Pleasure and Pain Enduro Mountain Bike race at Coffs Harbour on the NSW north coast. Local mountain bikers Shannon Weeks, Pam Carter, Louise Hamilton and Rachel Tokley competed in the 50km event.

The course consisted of a majority of the sweetest single track and a blend of double/fire trail totalling 25km of mountain bike Nirvana. Bridge crossings, log rolls, jumps, hand crafted lines were a challenge for all riders. The large field included current world 24 hour mtb champion Jason English, Rockstar racing team and plenty of enthusiastic weekend warriors.

The MUD Foxes rode hard and all came home with cash and prizes for their efforts.

In a clean sweep Shannon Weeks not only won her age category but came first overall in the Womens 50K with a time of 3:10:18. Pam Carter stepped onto the winner’s podium in 2nd place for her age group with a time of 3:18:14 and 4th overall in the womens 50km. Louise Hamilton also won her age division coming in with a time of 3:41:43 and came 5th overall. Rachel Tokley completed 25km in 1:45:26 before retiring.

The results were outstanding for the girls this being their first 50km race. They have only taken up riding in the last twelve months and have been training hard and having loads of fun out on the trails. Call into Mountain Cycles for details of how to join the local MUD MTB club and join the girls and the guys for a ride in the dirt.

SCOTT 24hr MTB Race

The entries are open for the Scott 24hr race at Stromlo Forest in October. In previous years Ulladulla have had a great representation at this race, and this year we aim to have a MUD Mountainbikers contingent present.

If anyone is looking at joining a team and/or need more information regarding the race, please contact Jason Colusso (details are on blog site), or enquire at Mountain Cycles.

Let's see how many "MUD" names we can come up with this year.

Sunday Club Race

This Sunday, the club is offering another race format for all members (you can sign up for a day licence and become a member for a day).

The format will be a 3 lap race of the larger track out at the Tabourie Track (Backhouse property). We will be starting the race at 9am, with registration open from 8.30. The price will be a very cheap $5, so come have a go, check out this new track the guys have been working hard on and have some fun.

Stay tuned for a new race format for the next couple of races covering the rest of the year, will let you know details next week.

See you on Sunday.

New Club Rides

Hi fellow MUD members,

We the committee have decided to shake things up a bit and alter the club rides. The way it is at the moment the guys have no day light to ride in, so there will now be no segregated rides. The Thursday ride is open to all members, boys and girls. The Wed girls ride will no longer be on offer, the girls can join in the Thursday ride, and the Saturday ride is now open to all members. So 2 rides to chose from, the only deciding factor is if you want to get up early on Saturday for an 8am start.

Hope to see plenty of you out there this Saturday.

ARE YOU 'EXPERIENCED'? (Hendrix!!!!! yeah baby!)

The MUD trail crew have been hard at it again. This Sunday we are giving the Handicap race a miss, but don't despair!
Its time to test the new and improved, slightly modified, lung stretching, ball breaking (if you got em that is!), leg smashing, arm pumping XC TRACK!!!! No seriously, don't be scared, but I do have your attention, right?
So come along and be "EXPERIENCED" and sample this new track on a social day (not a race). Your trail crew would love to see you there cause they reckon they have done a pretty damn good job!
There is a rustic yet trusty wood fire BBQ on site so feel free to chuck a few snags in ya kit. Or up ya kilt, up to you.
>This Sunday July 26th
>9.30am.
>Tabourie (Rolands') If you don't know where it is email Adam at agsmith@internode.on.net
As always, this is private property and the owners are keen for us to use it as long as we are all members of MUD or at least MTBA.
You wont know if you don't go??????

MUD Social Day Aug 2nd

Hi there, just wanted to let you know about the next MUD Sunday as advertised on the calendar, however this is going to be a MUD weekend at Tathra.

The plan is to get there sometime Sat 1st August, stay the night, there is a great caravan park right on the beach, and very close to all the mtb tracks in the area. We have contacts with some of the locals who will be able to show us around some of the tracks, and then maybe on the way home on Sunday, we could stop in at Bermagui at the mountain bike park for a couple of laps of their excellent track.

This is an event for the whole family. Once the guys get back from a ride, they can take over the child minding duties (and maybe even get the dinner on), so the girls can get out for a bit of a ride.

If you want some more information, come and see Bart or Ally at Mountain Cycles.
